Heart & S.T.E.A.M was developed around my love of spiritual artistry, science, and technology.
My path as a healer and artist has led me to become an educator, and developer of visual and mobile learning products.
The Heart & S.T.E.A.M project, is dedicate it to my sons. Soren Jai & Ayden Skye.
While we lived abroad in SE Asia, working in foundations, and living with indigenous communities, my husband and I found inventive ways to teach to our children, as well as the children of our community.
We together, continued to use art to enhance our children’s studies around difficult subjects like mathematics, foreign language, and science.
Through our nomadic journeys, we made learning fun again.
Which guided me towards developing Scrub Ninjas® the first ever video game app for premed test prep.
A gamified way to study!
Heart and S.T.E.A.M is a program I offer to children with special needs, specifically on the Autism spectrum.
A program and courses (live/online) focused on educating children on the benefits of S.T.E.A.M related professions through compassionate art, digital storytelling, and mindful leadership.
For example, I have an Eco-Robotics class, where the children create robots out of recycled materials. (Taught at Mecca in Eugene, OR)
This is a great class for children to create, touch, produce, and invent incredible things! A window into the endless possibilities for their future!
What makes this a S.T.E.A.M Program?
(Using the ‘Eco-Robotics’ class as an example.)
Throughout my classes I talk about the materials they are using, the benefits of using such materials, how the materials are made. Are they natural or synthetic? and what that means.
We talk about what type of industries, or s.t.e.a.m professional would create the items, or materials we are using.
Besides an art class, they are learning about the products they are using weather it’s a recycled milk glass milk jug, or a cassette tape.
This is a time for questioning, and that is science right?
For my ‘Heart, Mind, & Mathematics’ class I create specific art projects with local volunteers who specialize in all things math, and we create engaging puzzles, games, and visuals together to celebrate the art of mathematics.
This program will be offered as online courses for educators, and special needs professionals.
I also do live workshops, look below to enquire.
If you are interested in volunteering, please contact me. I’m always looking for local volunteers in these areas.
Please send me an email, with your ideas, and how we can work together through heart and s.t.e.a.m.
